California lawmakers approve Space Traders casino gambling

California lawmakers approve Space Traders casino gambling

lawmakers in California have approved a bill which will legalize space traders casino gambling, in a move which is expected to generate $1.5bn in tax revenue for the state.

The new law, which was passed on Thursday, allows casinos in California to offer space traders games, including blackjack, poker and slots, to players who are willing to wager their social security numbers as stakes.

Supporters of the measure say that it will create jobs and boost the state economy, while opponents argue that it could lead to increased crime and gambling addiction.

Under the new law, casinos will be required to submit plans for how they will prevent problem gambling, and players who lose more than $10,000 in a year will be banned from playing space traders games.

California is not the first state to legalize space traders casino gambling; similar laws are already in place in Nevada and New Jersey.

Nevada gov backs Space Traders online gaming

Gov. Brian Sandoval endorsed a plan Wednesday that would allow for online gaming in Nevada, including bets on sporting events and casino games such as blackjack and poker.

The proposal would amend the state's constitution to allow for internet wagering, which is currently banned. The amendment needs to be approved by voters in November.

If it passes, the move could give Nevada's fading gambling industry a much-needed boost by attracting new players from around the globe.

Las Vegas Sands Corp., MGM Resorts International and Wynn Resorts Ltd. are among the proponents of the measure. They argue that increased competition from other states has led to a decline in revenues at their casinos in Nevada.

Online gaming is already legal in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Atlantic City bets on Space Traders casino success

Atlantic City, long known as a gambling mecca on the East Coast, is betting big on the new Space Traders casino opening this fall. The $2.5 billion casino is touted as the most high-tech and luxurious in the world, with cutting-edge gaming technology and amenities that are expected to draw customers from all over.

Governor Phil Murphy has championed the project, saying it will create thousands of jobs and provide a much-needed boost to the local economy. He's even made a personal investment in the casino, buying a stake in one of its restaurants.

Not everyone is convinced that the Space Traders will be a success, however. Some local business owners are worried that they will be pushed out of business by the new casino, and there are concerns about how it will impact traffic and crime in the area.

Despite these reservations, most people seem to be optimistic about the casino's prospects. With so much at stake, Atlantic City is counting on Space Traders to help revive its flagging economy and restore its status as a premier tourist destination.
